Utilizing ultrasound, the peripheral veins are examined to rule out deep vein thrombosis (a blood clot in the large veins of the arms or legs).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prep:<\/strong>\u00a0No prep.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to Expect:<\/strong>\u00a0You will be asked to remove your clothing and put on shorts. You will be asked to lie on your back and may be asked to change positions during the test. Utilizing ultrasound, the sonographer will view your peripheral veins. The test will complete in approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
